Almost every tourist visa requires you to show proof of funds โ and the minimum varies wildly. Apply to the wrong number and your file is rejected before an officer even reads your cover letter.
Rule of thumb
Show at least USD 100 per day of intended stay across the last 6 months of statements. Lump-sum deposits in the last 30 days raise red flags โ funds should look like savings, not a loan.
By destination
- Schengen โ EUR 50โ100 per day depending on country
- United Kingdom โ minimum GBP 1,500 in the last 90 days
- United States โ no fixed minimum, but USD 5,000+ recommended
- Japan โ JPY 100,000 per week of travel
- Australia โ AUD 5,000 minimum balance
